Why we use wax-coated cotton and wooden wicks only
At Lady M Candle Co, we believe every detail matters — especially the one that lights the way. When it comes to crafting our candles, the wick is more than just a functional component. It’s the heart of the flame. It determines how your candle burns, how your scent carries, and how safely and beautifully it performs.
That’s why we only use wax-coated cotton wicks and wooden wicks — thoughtfully chosen for their clean burn, reliable performance, and alignment with our values of elegance, safety, and sustainability.
🕯 Wax-Coated Cotton Wicks
Cotton wicks are a timeless classic, and for good reason. Ours are specially selected and pre-waxed in natural soy to help them burn cleaner and more evenly from the very first light. Here's why we love them:
Even Flame: Cotton wicks offer a stable burn and help create a consistent melt pool.
Low Soot: When trimmed properly, they produce very little smoke or soot.
Safe & Reliable: Perfect for small to medium-sized vessels, they’re dependable and easy to care for.
Eco-Friendly: Free from lead and zinc, our cotton wicks are safe for your home and the environment.
🌿 Wooden Wicks
There's something undeniably special about a wooden wick — the soft crackle, the wide flame, the rustic elegance. We use natural, untreated wood wicks for select candles to offer a richer sensory experience.
Soft Crackling Sound: Like a mini fireplace, creating an ambient, soothing atmosphere.
Wide Melt Pool: Wooden wicks heat the wax evenly, enhancing the scent throw.
Modern Aesthetic: A clean, sleek look that adds character to your candle.
Natural & Sustainable: Sourced from renewable wood, they're a conscious choice that aligns with our brand ethos.
✨ Why We Don’t Use Other Wick Types
At Lady M, we intentionally avoid wicks made with synthetic fibres, metal cores, or harsh chemical treatments. These may burn faster or unevenly, produce smoke, or introduce unnecessary toxins into your space — and that goes against everything we stand for.
We believe candles should offer peace of mind, not just fragrance. By sticking to wax-coated cotton and wood wicks, we ensure our candles burn beautifully, cleanly, and in harmony with your home and health.
💡 Wick Care Tips
Trim cotton wicks to 5mm before each burn
Gently snap off the charred tip of wooden wicks between burns
Keep away from drafts for an even, controlled flame
Burn for 2–4 hours at a time to maintain a proper melt pool
The wick may be small, but it’s the heart of the candle. And like everything we do at Lady M Candle Co, it’s chosen with intention — for beauty, for safety, and for the legacy of love that burns in every flame.
With love,The Lady M Candle Co Team
